Living the Gospel

We want to encourage the student to experience the living of Jesus’ Gospel values through the many service learning projects that we have here. Several of our clubs are connected with Theology or our department. Student Outreach to Society is the school-wide outreach program that includes everyone, students, faculty, staff, and parents. The philosophy is Jesus’ Gospel message of caring for others. We are one of the few schools that allow students to deliver Meals on Wheels (with parents driving) during school hours. We also plug into the Salvation Army evening meal program for the homeless, two tutoring programs, adopt at least 18 children at Christmas, have a Halloween Carnival for disadvantaged children that stresses literacy and holds food drives for Commonwealth Catholic Charities and Little Sisters of the Poor.
The Respect Life Club sponsors many activities that honor life from conception to natural death, including the March for Life. TUG, Teens Under God, celebrate their faith twice a month before school. Sister Mary Clark, OSB is their moderator. Even though we are an independent school, we also connect with many diocesan programs as well.

Saint Gertrude High School is an independent Catholic college preparatory day school for girls grades 9-12
